Same lock, new keys, so the old keys stop working. For buildings, we set up one master key for the doors you choose.
What is a rekey?
A rekey keeps your lock on the door and changes the pins inside it. We cut new keys to match, and the old keys no longer open the door. It is the simple fix when you move in, lose a key, or a roommate moves out.
When people call us for this
- You moved into a new apartment and do not know who has keys.
- A set of keys went missing.
- A tenant, roommate, employee, or contractor moved on.
- You want one key for the front door, the apartment, and the mailbox area you control.
- A building wants a master key for the super and separate keys for each unit.
How does a master key system work?
Each door gets its own key, and one master key opens all of them, or only the ones you choose. Building managers, co-op boards, and business owners use it so staff carry one key instead of a ring of them. We plan the system with you and keep a record of who should have which key.
How do I get started?
Call us, or text photos of the locks. We give you a written quote before any work starts.
Frequently asked
Should I rekey or replace the lock?
If the lock still works well, a rekey is usually enough. If it is worn or broken, we replace it. We tell you which one fits your door before we start.
Can you rekey a lock that has a master key?
Yes. We change the unit key and keep the master working, so the building stays on one system.
